The other night around 10 or 10:30, I got a text from one of my coworkers (who I believe is married or is living with a woman he been with for years) saying he’s bored and would love company. I didn’t text back because of:

1) It was getting close to booty call hours

2) what type of company is he tryna have 10 or 10:30 at night?

3) I don’t like him like that

and 4) I think he’s married

So I see him today at my job’s staff meeting and he tells me how he texted me and everything and I made up a bullshit excuse about being asleep. Then he tells me how he had a bottle of rum waiting for me. Good thing my other coworkers were around so I could just do my little awkward smile and laugh, and walk the opposite way.

I don’t get some guys, especially this guy in particular. Every time he sees me at work he talks about how good of a man he is; that he works, has money, looks good and have a lot to offer. Next he tells me how he goes out with different girls and that they may look good, but has nothing good to offer. Then he tells me how I need to let him take me out , and starts praising me since I’m a young black woman that has her mind right, working two jobs and going to school. Don’t get my wrong, I appreciate the praise and compliments, but I feel like he’s just telling me what he thinks I want to hear. I don’t understand how he could have so much respect for me as a young woman, but yet the only time he contacts me outside of work is when it’s close to being late at night and he has some type of liquor with him.
